I have been a busy little bee making Holiday banners for my etsy shop. If you would like to take a lookie just click on my etsy shop button on the left of my blog (looks like a present). Sparkle and Shine Holiday Card class

I will be teaching this Tattered Angels Holiday card class at Collective Journey in Redlands on Saturday November 20th from 10:30 to 2:30, and at Ever After Scrapbooks in Vista, CA Sunday November 28th from 12:00 to 4:00. The photos feature three of the six cards we will be making using Glimmer Mist, Glimmer Glam and other Tattered Angels products along with the Crafty Secrets Image and Journaling booklet for Christmas. You will get an entire booklet (32 pages) in your class kit so you will have plenty left over for more cards, ornaments, and other projects. We will also get to play with Glimmer Glam, yummy! Wow, it has been so long since I have updated my poor neglected blog. Time just gets away from me sometimes. It's been crazy busy since summer with classes, events, Etsy shop, and life in general. I have some class dates and events to share with you. First off, Friday November 12th I will be visiting with the lovely Sheila Jeaux Goldsberry for the Charity Wings second annual three day crop in French Valley benefitting the Susan G. Komen foundation. We will be making a 12x12 layout featuring Tattered Angels products and mediums. I'm really looking forward to visiting with these ladies. Saturday November 13th I will be doing a Tattered Angels make and take at Collective Journey in Redlands for their annual open house "Let's wrap up Christmas" event. There are a few spots left so if you'd like to start wrapping up your Christmas crafting call the store to sign up at 909-793-2200. Sunday November 14th I will also be at the "Let's wrap up Christmas" event doing an Elizabeth Craft make and take, so if you'd like to get good and glimmery and glittery with me be sure to call and reserve your spot! I demonstrated Tattered Angels products last year at this event and let me tell you, it is more fun than you can imagine and there were people lined up out the parking lot waiting for those doors to open. I will be at Ever After Scrapbooks in Vista on Sunday November 21 from 11:00 to 5:00 teaching "Mad for Halloween" my Hallloween in Wonderland themed mini album featuring Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, and the Graphic 45 Halloween in Wonderland paper line. Shop Hop Hijinx and classes

The So-Cal Shop Hop is in full swing so be sure to pick up your passport at your local participating scrapbook store to get your list of stores. Each store has a movie theme and many stores have coordinating merchandise to go with their theme. My first Shop Hop stop was Ever After Scrapbooks in Vista. Their theme was Cinderella so I taught a princess themed Tattered Angels make and take.

After the make and takes I taught the "By the Sea" album featuring Tattered Angels products.

The store had just gotten their shipment of Glimmer Glam and Glimmer Glaze so we had a special treat, and got to play with some of it. Show me the Glam hands!

Yesterday I taught another layout make and Take at Collective Journey in Redlans. I used the new fall colors of Glimmer Mist and the Heidi Swapp Tattered Texture stamps for this one:

I had some friends from the Boulevard come out to play. That isn't as bad as it sounds, these girls are former employees and customers of Scrapbook Blvd, the store where I used to work.

Show me those Glimmer hands!

I discovered something while I was trying to create projects for the Shop Hop make and takes. I think I started my Glimmering career backwards. When I started glimmer misting I created albums using only glimmer mist and books, and every single inch of every page was glimmer misted. Most people start out just adding touches of Glimmer Mist here and there and work up to the full blown method. So now I was faced with having to come up with something that could be done in 15 minutes and I had my heart set on doing layouts. Good lord! What to do? I don't think I've ever done a full blown glimmer mist project in 15 minutes! Cards, and maybe pins, but certainly not a layout. Well, I did it, and I must say it was liberating! I am so happy with the way my 15 minute layouts turned out that I can't stop making them! At this rate I may be caught up with my scrapbooking in a week!(ok, maybe not) I urge you to try it! Just grab a screen a couple of stamps and some glimmer mist and see what you come up with. Next Saturday I will be at Kat Scrap Studio in Altadena
with another 15 minute layout for shop hop and I will also be teaching the "Time to Travel" Tattered Angels album and keepsake box. Please call the store for details at 626-398-0355 for details.

Summer is HERE!

Are you ready for summer? I sure am. I am so tired of rain and cold! I know, it could be worse than a California winter, but this past winter seemed especially yucky. I have been working really hard on some new summer classes. First up is my "By the Sea" Tattered Angels album. I think your really going to have fun with this one, so grab your flip flops and beach bag and head on over to Collective Journey in Redlands, CA on July 18th, or Ever After Scrapbooks in Vista, CA on Aug 8th(you could actually head on down to the beach after the class in Vista, lol). I will be teaching a travel album class this summer also(more to come on that one). Yesterday I taught the Glitter Garden class at Kat Scrap Studio in Pasadena. Wow! Did we ever have fun! Got good and glittery(always the sign of a good day)and learned some new techniques with the Elizabeth Craft glittering system. If you still haven't visited Kat Scrap Studio, you really must, it is simply fabulous! The address is 2455 N. Lake Ave. in Altadena, CA. And they don't just have scrappy stuff, there is all kinds of goodies for creating Altered Art, Jewelry, and fiber arts. Glitter Garden Class

Wow! June is flying by. My Glitter Garden Class is already here! This Saturday I will be teaching this class at Collective Journey in Redlands, Ca, and then I will be teaching it at Kat Scrap Studio in Altadena, CA on June 27th. Please see upcoming classes at right for the phone numbers for the stores. If you haven't seen Elizabeth Craft Glitter and accessories yet, you will! They are hot! Now, I consider myself somewhat of a glitter connoisseur. I have been using glitter since I was old enough to sprinkle it on glue, that is a loooonnnnggg time. This glitter is so fabulous it makes me giddy just thinking about playing with it. It is super duper micro fine. What does that mean? Well, it completely covers the surface it is being applied to, no peekaboo spots showing through, and this is the best part: When used with the Be Creative tape (this stuff is S T I C K Y!) it wont rub off! No glitter debris in your scrapbook sheet protector. No glitter all over the house. My husband especially appreciates that part! This stuff is so fine, you can even watercolor over it. Yep, I said watercolor. Did I mention that in this class we will be learning to watercolor with gel pens? Gel Pens! Who would have thought? I will also show you how to use peel off stickers(outline stickers) with the glitter, and watercolor techniques. You simply have to try it. We will be making a layout and two cards using the fabulous watercolor papers from Donna Salazar Designs. Hope to see you Saturday!

Well, here I am apologizing for being a very,very bad blogger. With the end of the school year coming to a close it has been very hectic with final projects, field trips and the usual crazyness that comes with the end of the year for the kids. I can't believe Morgan will be graduating from Elementary school next week. It seems like just yesterday that I was sending her off to Kindergarten. My youngest daughter Hannah celebrated her 11th Birthday:

I'm really looking forward to spending some time with my girls this summer. I hope we can get to the beach at least a few times so I can use up all that beach scrapbook paper that I keep buying, hahaha.

Seaside Frame

Hi all, today is my day for the Tattered Angels educator blog hop. We are hopping all month so please check out the other educators blogs, I have them all listed to the left here on my blog. I couldn't stop at just one project though so I posted this one on here. Many of you know how I love to recycle cool product packaging, so I just had to make a frame with the new Seaside Glimmer Chips box. These new products are so cool! So heres what I did:
I used the Graphic 45 Boardwalk papers to cover the words on the empty chip box, painted the back of the seashell glimmer glass with peach bellini glimmer glam, and cut images from the patterned paper and inserted behind the glimmer glass film strip. I added a photo to the inside of the box, put a ribbon for hanging at the top, and that's it! Super easy, and so much fun! Wild and Wonderful Scrappy Weekend

Well, I think I've finally recovered from my weekend. National Scrapbook day was Saturday May 1st, but us scrappers are not satisfied with just one day, so it has blossomed into National Scrapbook Weekend, and even National Scrapbook Month! There were so many great events going on that I couldn't choose just one, so my weekend went something like this: Friday April 30th at Del Mar, CA for Scrapbook Expo. I demonstrated Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in the Scrapbooks and Stickers booth. Even Mr. Pickle (Lance from Rusty Pickle)came out to play with the Glimmer Mist. For some strange reason I didn't get a photo of what he made, but he sprayed those super cool Rusty Pickle chipboard letters with GM to make a banner for his booth and a class kit sample. Stunning! Even my class heckler showed up,lol. You may remember him from a previous blog post of the Forever album class at Ever After. Here are some pics of the peeps at the show getting their glimmer on.

After Expo I headed out to Ever After Scrapbooks in Vista, my home away from home for some more Tattered Angels make and take action. We played with the new Seaside collection and the Tailored Tags.

The lovely and oh so talented Margie Romney Aslett was there from Utah hosting the NSD crop and teaching some fantabulous classes over the weekend with her Girls Paperie line(holy cow is that an awesome line of goodies). OMG she made me laugh so hard, this girl is a hoot! Here she is getting her glimmer on.

Saturday: Back to Expo in Del Mar for more Glimmery fun. I'd like to thank the girls at Scrapbooks N' Stickers, they are awesome! Here they are:

Sunday: Grand opening celebration at Kat Scrap Studio in Altadena, CA
More Tattered Angels make and takes, and lots of fun at this super cool store. I love this place! It is a brand spankin' new store in Altadena(Pasadena) and it is so stinkin' cute! The owner Karen Myers, and her staff are awesome. So many delicious scrappy products, and classes from Scrapbooking to Jewelry making, Mixed media, Knitting and Crochet. You must go check it out! Check my class schedule, I'm doing some fun classes there in the future. Just look at this place (my pictures aren't too good, but you get the idea.

And there you have it, my wild wonderful scrappy weekend! I must say, tired as I was at the end of it all, I came home feeling energized, and I scrapped a little. I think I got some serious creative mojo from being around all these wonderful people all weekend. Scrapbookers truly are an extraordinary group. I love hearing everyones personal stories, all of which have made them stronger in one way or another.

Scare Away Autism-a Twilight crafting extravaganza

Saturday I got the opportunity to do a make and take at the Scare Away Autism crop at Jazi Crafts in Oceanside, CA. What an awesome event, and a great cause. I learned alot about Autism, got to meet some wonderful ladies, and the very handsome Noah, a special guest at the event. If you haven't been to Jazi Crafts before, be sure to check them out! They have lot's of great stuff, and classes, and Michelle Jackson the owner is wonderful! Sheila from Scrapbook Royalty headed up this great event, and she was a delightful hostess. The always fabulous Donna Salazar was the MC of the event, and she was there with her lovely daughter Genna, who by the way is Team Edward. Nan Paturzo from Zutter was there doing a great make and take too. Be sure to check out the Scrapbook Royalty website for all of their happenings. Also, if you would like to support Autism Speaks, get yourself a "piece of heart", a special color of Glimmer Mist created by Tattered Angels available only on the Tattered Angels website with a portion of the proceeds going to Autism Speaks and it's only five bucks!

Glimmer of Hope

Tattered Angels has launched a new philanthropic effort called Glimmer of Hope. This program will feature causes that are near and dear to the Tattered Angels customers, staff, educators and designers. Tattered Angels will release a featured product for a cause and donate a portion of the proceeds to research or non profit organizations supporting the cause. You will only be able to purchase the featured product from the Tattered Angels Website and it will only be available for a limited time, so check the website often for updates. The first product release is "Piece of Heart" a limited edition glimmer mist color shown above. Liz Hicks and Patti Slade developed this color for Autism Awareness, a cause near and dear to both of them, and many others. For their touching stories please visit the Tattered Angels Educator blog here to read about how Autism has touched their lives.

I will be doing a Tattered Angels make and take at the Scrapbook Royalty event "Scare Away Autism" a Twilight Crafting Extravaganza on April 17th at Jazi Crafts in Oceanside, CA. I made a couple of projects for Scrapbooks 'N Stickers (www.scrapbooksnstickers.com)using Tattered Angels Glimmer kits and I took them with me to my class at Ever After. Some of you wanted to see pictures of them, and I totally forgot to post them, so here they are. The first one was made using the Timeless Romance Glimmer Kit (love it!), and the second one was made using the Baby Boy Glimmer Kit.
For the Timeless Romance project I added Prima say it in studs flower centers, Say it in Pearls swirl, and Prima white festive flowers. For the Baby boy kit, I added an extra package of Pocket Watch framed fonts,and lots of buttons. ECD Demo at Scrapping Lounge

I had a sparlkly good time yesterday at the Scrapping Lounge in Claremont, CA. This store is so cool! It's decked out in 50's style, even the music! We had a great time with the Elizabeth Craft Glitter and peel off stickers. The scissors from ELC were a huge hit. They are so small, and easy to use. There was quite a group that came out for Scrapping Lounge's open house in spite of the crazy rain. Holy Cow, was there a lot of awesome products in this store, and the owner Deb, was really great. Stop and Smell the Roses

The other day my youngest daughter Hannah came home from school, and immediately asked me for a vase. I was right in the middle of prepping for a class, so I said she needed to wait for mommy to finish what she was doing, because the vase is up high. Well, she took it upon herself to find something to use for a vase, and she presented me with this beautiful rose in an apple sauce jar. She said "I found this rose on the sidewalk on the way home from school, and I brought it home for you Mommy. That rose could not have been more beautiful if it had been in a crystal vase, than it was in that applesauce jar. She took the time to not only think of me, but to find something to put it in. Moments like this just really make you stop and think about the little things that we tend to push aside when we are working, and to appreciate them when they come to you. Thanks Hannah Bear.

CHA Preview Party and Forever Album class at Ever After

Last Saturday I got to attend the CHA Preview Party at Ever After Scrapbooks in Vista, CA. What fun we had. Camille, the owner really knows how to throw a party. She showed some of the goodies that she bought at CHA for the store, had a trivia contest, raffle, we got to stand up and speak about the company we represent, demos, and treats!

Right after the party we went right into my Forever Album class. Oh, this group! They were so much fun. I have to tell you, I was a bit nervous at first. This gentleman shows up in the classroom with his flowered scrappy tote, and says "I'm here for the Fallen Angels class. Okayyyy... Turns out he was there with his wife and he was making the album too for his daughter, awwww, how sweet. One of the attendees even brought a special guest. That's right, she brought Edward! Well, a facimile of Edward, but good enough! Her grand daughter gave him to her for Christmas. Hmmm, who wouldn't like to find Edward under their Christmas tree on Christmas morning? We glimmered, and laughed, and had a fantastic time.

CHA Review

I just realized today that I never posted my CHA review! What a dingbat I am. Ok, so here is a summary of what tickled my fancy at the show: Of course, do I even need to say it? Tattered Angels, WOW! You are going to love, love, love, the new products coming out. Of course, now that it is the end of February, you have probably seen it all already, but let me just tell you, The new Glimmer Glam and Glaze is to die for! So many great possibilities for this new medium. The wheels are spinning with some great classes for you using these little beauties. Also the new Heidi Swapp resist pieces, and folder are yummalicious. Did I mention the Seaside collection? A must have for those summer projects. The new additions to the Tattered Traveler collection have me really fired up. This is one of my very favorite collections, and I am planning a great vintagy travel album class with this line. And the booth was spectacular! Check it out:

Ok, moving on. Graphic 45. Graphic 45 always has the most gorgeous booth. Check out that huge clock tower! So cool. And the new products,most which have already hit your local stores, so beautiful.

Prima: I just have four words for you: I WANT IT ALL! Seriously, I want to live in their booth. They have upmteen new styles of the white flowers (for glimmer misting of course), new raw lace, beautiful new paper lines, and those butterflies! You can check it all out at the PRima website. Canvas Corp: Love them! They are absolutely the nicest people, and their product is top notch. Canvas banners, wall hangings, canvas by the sheet, and hardware for it too. YOu must go to their site at www.canvascorp.com Their canvas takes glimmer mist beautifully. I will be sharng some projects soon with their canvas and glimmer mist, and the love banner that I shared on a previous post was made with their banner panels. Kaiser craft had some great beyond the page pieces for home decor and altered art projects. Love the family tree piece.

Melissa Frances has a new line coming out that was just calling my name. It's called Kitchy Kitchen. Also the new Vintage Posey line is gorgeous.

Websters pages has beautiful new embellishments, for some bizarre reason I have no picture of them, but you can go to www.websterspages.ning.com to look at them. The trim, bloomers, sparklers and of course the papers will just make you go wild.
Then there is the new Melody Ross lines at GCD. Let me just say, previously I was not a huge fan of GCD products. Until now. WOW! We were the first group to get to do the demo with the chipboard and the hammer and dies, yep I said hammer, an it's cute too! I'll give you a little tip: you are supposed to spritz the chipboard with water before you take the die and hammer to it, but if you use glimmer mist instead of water....you get the idea. I took Melody some glimmer mist and she tried it with the chipboard and tools and it came out beautifully. If you haven't heard of Melody Ross before, she is just a doll. You must check out her blog (I think it is melodyross.typepad.com. She is a wonderful writer, and her blog is pure inspiration not only in the crafting department, but in life as well. Here are some pics of her gorgeous work at the booth.

Basic Grey has cool new papers called BAsics. They are white with print on them, and I think they will be a staple in many of my glimmer mist projects.

Can you say yum? Glitter, yum! I don't have any pictures of their booth either because I was completely engrossed in watching the demo of the glitter with peel off stickers and double sided tape. I loved the stuff so much, that I became a certified Elizabeth Craft instructor. You will love this glitter. I have had some experience with glitter, hahah, ok, a LOT of experience with glitter, and this is the finest, richest glitter I have ever used. When you use it with the double sided tape, it feels just like velvet, and it does not rub off! I will be sharing some class projects I will be teaching with it soon, so keep your eyes peeled for it. New Class!

Hi all, well, it has been such a very long time since I updated my little bloggy here, I apologize for that. I've been a very busy girl, creating a new class I think your going to love! It's a Twilight inspired album featuring Glimmer Mist, Glimmer Chips, Tattered Angels Timeless Romance calling cards, and glimmer screens and clear stamps, whew! If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm addicted to the Twilight series books from Stephenie Meyer. Can't get enough of all things Twilight. I am especially fond of "Edward". Go team Edward! So I just had to create a class to commemorate the love story of Bella and Edward(sorry Jacob girls, I'll get to you later). I will be teaching this at Ever After Scrapbooks in Vista, CA on February 20th, Collective Journey in Redlands, CA on March 14th, with more dates and stores coming soon. I'm also donating one of my class samples of the book at the Scrapbook Royalty event "Scare Away Autism" on April 17th (see www.scrapbookroyalty.org for details). I also want to mention that you can join Club Royalty for $20.00 and be a part of the wonderful things they do (you will also get a really cute T-shirt for joining). With my girls at Expo Costa Mesa

Wow, has it really been since January 5th that I posted last here? I don't even know what date it is today, lol. I've been a little busy for the last couple of weeks with Costa Mesa Expo with Tattered Angels, then the weekend after that with the CHA Supershow with Scrapbooks and Stickers, and then CHA. Whew! It was great to see so many of you at the shows. I don't get to see some of my scrappy friends but once a year at CHA so that is always fun. I'm going to share some CHA pics and products over the next few days so stay tuned!

Calendar Project

Since it is a new year, I think a calendar project is just the thing to start off with! And I warned you, there would be more Twilight inspired projects to come, so it seems only fitting to make a "Twilight" calendar. Some of the images I am using for the calendar I found on google images, and some are from magazines. I hope to share a new page every month with you, and I will step out the process of each layout so you can try some new techniques(hopefully). I found this picture on google images, and thought I was going to die! So beautiful! There is some amazing digital talent out there. I just knew glimmer mist would be the perfect compliment to this dreamy photo, as well as the Tattered Angels large screen. I started out with the Karen Foster calendar that I have been hoarding for years, lol. I figured what better time to break it out!

I used the Autumn Leaves Messy Dates stamps to add the days, and dates to the calendar.

For the word January I sprayed white cardstock with Arctic Blue Glimmer Mist and cut out the letters using my QK Revolution and the Finale alphabet(my favorite). For the Title of the layout I used the QK Spicy Chicken alphabet (my 2nd favorite). So that is the calendar base. For the layout I used a sheet of 12x12 white cardstock. I sprayed it with Glacier, and Dew Drop Glimmer Mist to start with to give the whole page a light misting of color and sparkle.

I used a rubber brayer to work the color evenly into the paper and I left it wet so when I add my other colors they would blend better. Next I added the medium colors of Denim Blue, and Spring Violet Glimmer Mist. I sprayed the mist then blotted it with a paper towel to lift some of the color up.

Then I went in with my darker colors of Huckleberry and Moonlight Glimmer Mist, drying after these last colors were applied.

To create the dreamy cloud look that is around the photos I used Marshmallow Glimmer Mist. If you haven't tried this color yet, you must! It is an opaque glimmer mist, so it sprays white. I used several layers of this around the area where my photo would go, then dried it.
For the swirly piece on the bottom right corner with the journaling block I used the Garden Lattice large glimmer screen with Arctic blue glimmer mist. I used the stamping technique with the screen and transferred the image onto a separate piece of white cardstock and cut out the image.I cut the image out because I wanted some of the swirls to overlap my photo and I didn't want to cut my background page. You could skip this step if you aren't concerned about portions of the swirls being covered up. I also used the Tattered Angels Spooky Tree stamp from the halloween set to add small portions of the branches around the edges of the page.

I stamped around where the photo would go for a little definition, as I didn't want to use a photo mat. For the wings, they are Tattered Angels glimmer chips from the nature set. I sprayed them with Glacier Glimmer Mist and dried them. Then I inked the outside edges with Milled Lavendar, and Weathered Wood distress ink. They are self adhesive, so I just stuck them down and was done! Love that.

After that, I just adhered my title and a couple of stamped images for embellishments and voila, my first project of the new year is done! Hope you enjoy, and try some of the techniques I used.

New Year, New Possibilities

Well, the holidays are over, and the New Year is here. Let's hope it's a good one, I think we could all use a fresh new year. I always feel kind of sad when all the Christmas decorations come down and get packed up. The house feels sort of empty, so I decided to make a winter wall hanging as a little pick me up till the valentines day decorations come out. I got the inspiration for this little cutie from the Melissa Frances web site. I bought these little bottle brush trees from the Melissa Frances booth at the Ontario expo. They were one of those Oooh, I just have to have those. So I was browsing around the internet for decorating ideas with them, and ended up on the Melissa Frances site, wow, there are some fabulous things on there, you really must take a look. So, anywhoo, here is my take on the project. The little girl image is from Crafty Secrets, the winter phrase, keyhole, mica flakes, crepe paper and tree are from Melissa Frances, the Bingo card is from Apriles Attic(www.aprilesattic.com), the chipboard stars are Bazzill, the patterned paper is Cosmo Cricket, and the chipboard wreath and lantern are from Tattered Angels. I put all this together on a cheapo canvas frame from the dollar store. Oh, and the silver glittery scalloped paper is Doodlebugs sugar paper in white, and I sprayed it with silver glimmer mist to change it's color. Heres to new possibilities, and a happy new year!

A little Break in between Christmas Projects...

Yep, we're back to Forks again, lol. Did you really think I would be able to make it all the way through the holiday season without another Twilight project? No, I haven't switched teams, I'm still a Team Edward girl. I made this box for a birthday gift for a friend of a friend, who just happens to be turning 90. She is a Jacob girl. Here is a pic of the box before I added the photos and do-dads.

These boxes start out completely white. I got to use some of my favorite Glimmer Mist colors: Sand, Coffee Shop, and Olive Vine. These colors just scream jacob. I love the way the trees turned out. I used the Lodgepole Pine Glimmer Screen from the Winter Trees set, and Cinder glimmer mist. I sprayed the screens with Cinder, and used the stamping technique to apply the images to the box.

For the hinges on the corners of the lid, I used glimmer chips from the regal embossed collection.

I dabbed them with versamark ink, and then sprinkled and heated copper embossing powder over them. Then I used black acrylic paint and brushed it over the areas which I embossed and then gently rubbed over the embossed areas with a paper towel to remove some of the acrylic paint to give them an aged look. Then I cut the ends off the glimmer chip pieces and attached them to the box with brads.
I also used a collage press stamp for the swirl frame behind the photo on the front. I used versamark ink and copper embossing powder. It's kinda hard to see in this picture cause my lighting isn't so hot, sorry about that.

So there it is, the Jacob box. Now, I can't publish this post without my team being represented, so I am re-posting the pictures of the edward box.

For the Edward box, I painted the whole box first with black acrylic paint. Then after it was dry, I sprayed it with Graphite Glimmer Mist. I also sprayed the black roses with Graphite glimmer mist. The pictures don't do the glimmer justice. This thing sparkles like crazy, just like our favorite vampire. I also used glimmer chips from the regal embossed collection for this box, as well as a regal framed font frame over the latch on the box. So I hope you got your Twilight fix for just a little while. I'm working on some Twilight projects for classes in January, so this is not the end, much to my husbands dissapointment, lol.

Day Three of a Very Vintage Christmas

Whoops! I fell off the wagon and didn't get yesterdays project posted, sorry about that. I'll post two today, I promise! It's no secret that I am wild about Magenta Rubber Stamps, and that is what we will be using for todays project. You are probably going to see a few projects with these same two stamps that I used today because I absolutely love them, can't get enough of them. One is the Winter Angel stamp, #C 95.211.L, and the other is the Music Notes, #C 95.194.M. I have included the item numbers for you in case you would like to purchase them from your local retailer, or online store. They are cling mount stamps so they don't take up a lot of room, and the images are superior in quality. So lets get started!

Supplies you will need:
Two sheets of 8 1/2 x 11 Cream colored cardstock
Cream colored tissue paper with gold metallic flecks
Gold embossing ink(I used Encore by Tsukineko)
Gold Embossing Tinsel ( I used Ranger's)
1 yard white irridescent tinsel ribbon
1 yard bright gold tinsel ribbon
1 yard antique gold tinsel ribbon
Stamps mentioned above
Pop dots

Step one:
Start by cutting a piece of the cream cardstock to 5 1/2" x 8 1/2"
fold in half to make your card base.

Step two:
Cut one piece of cream cardstock to 5 1/4"x4"
cover cardstock on one side with liquid glue such as modge podge and lay a larger piece of the tissue paper with gold flecks over the glue. Press tissue into glue, "squishing it" around a little bit to get some wrinkes in it for texture. Set aside and let dry. After it is dry, trim excess tissue paper from edges, and ink edges of piece with gold ink, and set with heat gun.

Step Three:
Ink up your music notes stamp with gold ink and stamp image onto cardstock (I stamp image onto full sheet, then cut it out). Heat set with heat gun. Stamp winter angel image with gold ink onto cardstock, and sprinkle with gold embossing tinsel. Shake excess embossing tinsel off of image, and back into jar. Heat until melted, and let cool. Trim around both stamped images leaving a tiny border of cream cardstock.

Step Four:
Close your card and ink all four sides of front of card with gold ink and heat set.
Adhere piece of cardstock that you glued the tissue paper to, down to front of card, leaving bottom inch unglued.

Step Five:
Adhere Music note stamped image to left side of card at an angle as shown.
Place foam pop dots to back of stamped winter angel image making sure to put a pop dot at each corner of backside of image, and adhere to card, overlapping music notes image. Twist a piece of antique gold tinsel ribbon, and a piece of irridescent tinsel ribbon together (piece should be about 16" long) and wrap around foam dots under angel image and tie in a knot at top right of image, leaving two small tails hanging down. You can trim any excess ribbon. Cut a 6" piece of bright gold tinsel ribbon and wrap it across the bottom of card as shown, tucking a little bit under each side of tissue covered cardstock. Place a glue dot onto card base under tissue covered cardstock at the bottom left and bottom right corders and press tissue covered cardstock, and bright gold tinsel ribbon down into glue dot.

All done! These cards are great if you have a lot of christmas cards to do because they are inexpensive, and can be created in assembly line fashion. It would also look pretty done in silver, and navy blue.

Day Two of A Very Vintage Christmas

A cookie sheet advent calendar!

Here are the supplies you will need:
.Metal cookie sheet (10x15 or larger)
.24 empty match boxes
.8 sheets coordinating scrapbook paper
.24 magnets (i used a frigde checkers set I found at the dollar store)
.two yards each of 4 colors of ribbon to tie on matchboxes
.one yard wide wired ribbon for hanger
.one yard ribbon for covering seam of paper on cookie sheet - I used red velvet ric rac
.four yards of silver or gold thin wired ribbon for tying numbers onto matchboxes
.Jewelry tags for numbers on matchboxes
.Large letters for your title - I used the Quickutz blossom alphabet
.small numbers for matchboxes - I used a squeeze alphabet from Quickutz
.Adhesive-strong fast drying liquid adhesive(I used K&Co Craft bond), or double sided tape like wonder tape, and a xyron x machine
.Stickles in Stardust
.Cropadile

Step one: Choose two pieces of patterned paper for your cookie sheet. Cut one sheet to fit the lower portion of cookie sheet, and one for the top portion. Keep in mind that the patterned paper for the top portion should not be too busy, as you will be placing your title over it. Adhere lower portion of paper to cookie sheet first, then top portion, overlapping lower portion slightly. Adhere ribbon over seam of two papers.

Step two: Using your Cropadile, punch a hole in each corner of the top of your cookie sheet. Cut two 1/2 yard pieces of wide wired ribbon and insert one through each hole. Leave a tail on the backside of cookie sheet and tie a knot in the ribbon on the back to keep ribbon from coming through holes all the way. tie a bow in the center.

Step three: Cut 24 pieces of patterned paper, using 6 different patterns to 2 1/4"x5". Adhere paper to matchbox jacket, overlapping paper at the backside. Trim any excess paper from edges. Tie coordinating ribbon around matchbox and knot in center, trimming ribbon if necessary.

Step 4: cut out numbers and adhere to jewelry tags using a xyron x to add adhesive. If you don't have a Xyron, you could use a fine tip glue pen. Add Stardust Stickles to numbers on tags and let dry.

Step 5: run a small piece of silver or gold thin wired ribbon through the jewelry tag, and wrap around knot on ribbon on matchbox.

Step 6: Glue a magnet to backside of each matchbox, let dry.

Step 7: Cut out and adhere letters for your title. Try laying them out on cookie sheet before gluing down to be sure they fit. Apply stardust stickles to each letter and let dry.

Step 8: fill each matchbox with a candy or tiny treasure. Place matchboxes on cookie sheet in numerical order and hang cookie sheet on wall and enjoy! If you have any questions about these projects please email me at luliscraps@yahoo.com and I will get back to you right away.

A Very Vintage Christmas

As many of you know, I love vintagy(is that a word?) stuff, so for this Holiday season, I'm going to post a project every day from now until Christmas using vintage images, and stuff from my stash like vintage buttons, tinsel, and all kinds of yummy goodies from my favorite companies. I'll give you directions and a supply list, but I encourage you to use what you have, or your favorites to make the project your own. I am going to try real hard to only use stuff I have on hand. Since my recent move, I realized I have way too much stuff and need to use it or lose it, and we all know how I hate to part with my stuff! So let's get scrappy, and make something. This is a project I created for the Tattered Angels booth at CHA Summer, so I don't have pictures of the process, but you can follow along with the written instructions and refer to the photo.

Supplies needed:
two 12x12 sheets of cream colored cardstock (I used light totally tan from colormates)

1 sheet vintage sheet music or patterned paper with music notes on it cut to 5x11.

2 regal frames from the Tattered Angels Regal Framed fonts

Glimmer chips - 3 embossed corners, and one sleigh from embossed frosty memories glimmer chips set from Tattered Angels.

One yard cream satin ribbon with gold edges

Vintage Images from "Children at Christmas post card book ( I got this at Collective Journey in Redlands)

Glimmer Mist in Red Velvet, Irridescent Gold, Winter Pine (or Forrest Green)

Distress Ink in antique linen, and walnut

Ok, here we go:
Step one: Spray entire piece of 12x12 cardstock with Red Velvet Glimmer Mist. Use a rubber brayer (optional) to move the glimmer mist around page to completely cover cardstock. Dry with heat gun.

Step 2: cut other piece of 12x12 cardstock to 7x9" and spray with winter pine, or forrest green glimmer mist. Use a rubber brayer(optional) to move glimmer mist around cardstock, completely covering it. Dry with heat gun.

Step 3: spray sheet music, glimmer chips, and images with irridescent gold glimmer mist and dry with heat gun.

Step 4: Using antique linen ink pad(you must use a felt ink pad, not foam)rub over top of glimmer chips to highlight embossed areas. Also ink edges of sheet music with antique linen pad. Ink edges of 12x12 page, and green mat with walnut ink.

Step 5: Adhere sheet music to 12x12 page leaving about 1/2" border around top, bottom, and left side of sheet music. Tie ribbon around green mat about 1/2" from left edge and tie in a bow as shown. Adhere green mat to red cardstock page about 1/2" from right side, and 1" from top edge of page, overlapping the sheet music.

Step 6: Adhere Glimmer Chip corners to three corners of green mat and over ribbon as shown (note: Glimmer chips are self adhesive)

Step 7: Adhere full size postcard image to green mat, leaving about 1/2" border around top, right, and bottom of green mat. Adhere sleigh to bottom right corner of page, overlapping postcard image slightly.

Step 8: Remove backing from frames and lightly place over area of image you want to show through frame. Using scissors, cut around and slightly under frame to remove excess portion of image. Adhere frames to page over sheet music as shown.

Step 9: Adhere greeting to lower left corner as shown.

Autumn inspiration

Fall is my favorite time of year, I love the crisp, cool weather and the colors. Living in California, we don't really get changing leaves but I can live vicariously through magazine photos, and pictures, lol.

I am frequently asked what my favorite colors of glimmer mist are. Of course, there are so many beautiful colors to choose from, and it depends on what I'm working on, but if I had to choose three of the colors I use most, it would probably be the ones I used in this layout: Patina, Olive Vine, and Peach Delight (with accents of Creme de Chocolate). I love these colors so much that I decided to decorate my living room with them. I also used my go to glimmer screen, the large swirl from the master set of glimmer screens and the decorative corner clear stamp from Tattered Angels. I simply sprayed a 12x12 piece of ivory cardstock(I used colormates light totally tan)with patina, olive vine and peach delight randomly over entire page letting the colors blend together slightly. I sprayed the large swirl screen with creme de chocolate glimmer mist and used the stamping technique to transfer the image to my page on the left side. I stamped the decorative corner image using versafine ink in vintage sepia at the top right corner. I sprayed a paper bag with olive vine, patina, and peach delight in the same fashion as the cardstock. I then stamped the leaf image(stampendous)over the glimmer misted paper bag and cut them out. The "Give Thanks" and "Family, Friends, together" image is a foam stamp from lil' davis. I am planning to add this years family photo from Thanksgiving day to the layout. I'm finally finished moving, my computer is finally working, and the New Moon Movie is FINALLY almost here. Wow, what a crazy October and November it has been. I'm still unpacking, but my scrappy room is almost up and running. I should say scrappy garage(yep, I'm outside again)and of course that is the most important right? My computer has been down for almost a month, and I'm really glad to be back in the loop, lol. So this is the big week for all of us Twilight fans, New Moon opens Friday, whoohoo! I have been not so patiently waiting for what seems like forever. I was hoping to go with some girlfriends to the midnight showing opening night, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen, so my husband(thats right, Mr. antitwilight) has graciously agreed to take me this weekend. I will finally get to wear my Team Edward t-shirt. I'm sure he will be thrilled about that, haha. Well, I have some new projects that i've been working on, and I will post those tomorrow. Sorry I haven't posted in forever, I've been really busy with a move, classes, and the expo. So, hmmmm, where to start. Let's start with the Scrapbook Expo. What a great time with the Tattered Angels Crew! It was so great so see so many friends from the boulevard, Collective Journey, and Ever After. Thanks to all of you who stopped by the booth to say hi. I'm still trying to figure out how to create my newsletter, hopefully I can get that done today and out to everyone. Last night we had our monthly Divine Desert Divas Crop and as usual a fabulous time was had by all. Ashley Woods was crowned Diva of the month and we celebrated Terry's birthday, happy birthday Terry! These girls are wild! We also had a new cropper join us, Barbara. She was working diligently on our Scrap Pink decorations. It was busy all night, and then for a few moments I had the room all to myself. Aprile asked me if everyone had abandoned me and I said "Shhhh, I'm getting something done, don't say anything. I looked up and all the girls were standing there staring at me! So I took the opportunity to take a picture of everyone. Too funny girls. So Cheryl still didn't get anything done at the crop(big surprise)lol, but I had a lot of fun which is most important right? Kids are Back to School!

Whoohoo! I have a semi empty house today. All the kids have finally gone back to school. Now, don't get me wrong, I love having the kids home, but I also enjoy my alone time to get caught up on projects, and to clean the house without little people coming behind me and messing up what I've just cleaned. So here is a pic of the girls in their oh so fashionable back to school outfits. Daddy made them breakfast to get them going today, as you can see it worked, lol. It's gonna be a great day!

Tomorrow,(Saturday, the 29th)from 1:00 to 5:00 I will be at Ever After Scrapbooks in Vista for the Altered Box class. We will be taking a blank box with all these wonderful trays with compartments in it for storing all of your goodies and creating beatiful pieces of art with them. I'll be bringing my glimmer mists and a ton of embellishments for your creating pleasure. You will customize the box the way you would like it in the colors you choose. Did I mention that these boxes are the perfect carrying case for your Glimmer Mist? Yep, you can get 24 bottles in one box. Hope you can come out to play, this is going to be one fun class! Flip Flop Album Class at Collective Journey

Yesterday I taught my Flip Flop glimmer mist album at Collective Journey in Redlands. These girls were on their game, and were loving the Glimmer Mist! Their projects came out beatiful, and we had a great time glimmering the day away. Let me just say, if you haven't been to Collective Journey before you must go. It is just a gorgeous store. Not only do they have tons of fantastic paper crafting supplies, but they have really cool gifty items too. And then there is the little Candy Shoppe in the store. I usually bring one of my girls to help me with things during class, and they all fight over who gets to go to Collective Journey with me. Maybe I will have to start drawing names, haha. Everyone who works there is just so friendly and helpful, you are sure to have a wonderful shopping experience there. I will be back at Collective Journey Sunday October 4th to teach the Spooky, Sparkly Halloween album. If the mojo fairy is with me today I should have a sample of the book to share with you tomorrow. New Magenta Site is Up!

Magenta has re-vamped it's website, take a look at www.magentastyle.com
They have a fantastic selection of stamps from cutesy to vintage styles to choose from. Their stamps are high quality red rubber, and available wood mounted or cling style. They also have clear stamps, beautiful scrapbook papers, laser cut chipboard, die cut felt, and one of my favorite things - paper cuts, which are vintage image prints and scenery. While your there be sure to check out the gallery and the designers blogs for tons of inspiration. These are the new fall papers, just gorgeous!

These are some projects I made using Magenta products.
I used a canvas picture that I got at the dollar store for the base. I tore the paper off the back of the canvas to create a shallow shadow box. I painted the edge of the frame, and inside with antique white acrylic paint. The image in the top left corner is a Crafty Secrets image from the Birds and Botanicals booklet. I wrapped a wire around the frame and secured it in back to hang the bird post image from. The flowers are prima, and the buttons and lace are from my stash. I also added dingle-ball trim, and fringe to the bottom.

I used the bird post stamp, and the vintage letter stamp #95.214M for the images in the frame. I sprayed the paper for the letter with sand, and vintage pink glimmer mist. I sprayed the bird post image with old lace glimmer mist. The background paper is old sheet music, the image at the bottom right of the frame I cut from a book.

I used the weathered wood stamp #95.213M for the edge of the frame, with Tattered Rose distress ink from Ranger.

I made this little card using the Passions Printemps paper and the birds chipboard

You can easily spice up a recycled bottle by adding some bath salts, or whatever you want to fill the bottle, and then decorate with a stamped image and some ribbon, and other goodies.

I made this family mini album with the Passion Printemps line of scrapbooking papers, and the birds, butterflies and flower chipboard. Let me just tell you about this chipboard! It is laser cut, and the shapes are fantastic. You can ink,paint,sand,cover with patterned paper, glimmer mist them, the possibilities are endless. I also used the swirl stamp.

Sneaky Peek's and a Reminder

Ok, I have a sneak peek at the new Tattered Angels Glimmer Chip Tiles. This one is of the Nature Tiles. I made a banner with it. I'll show you the completed banner after CHA. I love these things! You can use them on a layout, make a little book out of them, home decor, they are just so versatile. I love to spray them with Glimmer Mist and then rub an ink pad over the top when the glimmer is dry to highlight the embossed areas. I also added the Nature framed fonts for the banner to spell out the word welcome. These chip tiles come in several different themes, which I will be showing you sneaks of as I finish them. They come in an ivory color and are four inches wide by 6 inches long. There are 6 designs to a pack. Your gonna love them! New Tattered Angels Goodies and a Giveaway!

Tattered Angels has changed their labels! They are absolutely gorgeous. The glimmer inside is still the same, only the label has changed. I'm giving you a little sneaky peeky here of the new Winter colors. They are:
Arctic Blue, a deep navy blue with a silvery glimmer
Pashmina, a plum color with gold glimmer
Candelight, a warm yellowy orange with platinum glimmer
Frozen Lake, a deep blue-green with blue green glimmer
Peppermint Stick, deep red with a pinkish platinum glimmer
Marshmallow(my new fav) white(yes, white!) with irridescent glimmer

And if that weren't enough, the new pink mats are in. I love the big size, 2x3! If your wondering why you might need a mat that large, take a look at the picture of my work table in my scrappy room. That small, semi unglimmered area in the middle is what my old mat covered. As you might have guessed, I'm a very happy girl! And it's pink! You simply must have one of these. I Finished Somethin'!

I finished last months Pinecone book club project! I have a bad habit of starting a project and then I get sidetracked somewhere between beginning and middle and never finish it. I have a whole cabinet in my scrappy room full of "have to finish" projects. This particular project was so fun and easy that I finished it! Last summer my daughter went to Santa Cruz with her Grandma on the train and this book is for her to put her pictures and memorabilia in from that trip. This was a Pinecone Book Club kit. If you haven't attended one of these classes you really must. You get an idea book (Pinecone books are some of the best), and a kit to complete one of the projects in the book. You also have the option of purchasing a kit B, which has material to complete another project from the book with different materials from kit A. I attend Pinecone Book Club at Aprile Peel's house once a month. I've actually been making lots of new stuff, but I can't show you yet... top secret stuff you know. Fathers Day Project, proof that glimmer mist is not just for girls...

Yep, I've heard it before. I can't use glimmer mist cause I have all boys. Well here is a project to prove that you can! It's all in the color selection. Believe me, my husband is no stranger to glitter. He's been dealing with the sparkly stuff for almost 18 years. Regardless, he still would probably not appreciate a glittery froufrou thing for Fathers Day, so I created this box for him using glimmer mist. It has a shimmer to it, but nothing to stop the heart of a non-sparkly lovin' man.

Birthday Gift for Hannah

Today is my daughter Hannah's birthday, she's 10! For Christmas Hannah got an Easy Bake Oven. This kid loves to cook and has used the heck out of her little oven. Since the Easy Bake mix packets are a little pricey I went online to see if there was a recipe for using regular cake mix, cause you cant just mix up some cake mix and throw it in the little pan. You have to adjust the amount of liquid you put in it. Well, I found tons of recipes for the Easy Bake Oven - Who knew? I decided to make Hannah her very own recipe book and I knew just the right papers.... Nana's kitchen papers from Die Cuts with a View. Perfect. I used acrylic for the front and back covers so they can be wiped clean. I am obviously a little hopeful that she will like it, because I put 40 pages in it. Well, the paper was so cute I couldn't choose, so I used one of each, hehe. I also cut out the word Nana from the cover of the paper pack cause it's one of Hannah's nick names. Sorry about the dark pictures, the sun just went away. Happy Birthday Hannah!

Magenta Inspiration

Here are a couple of projects I created using the BEAUTIFUL papers from Magenta. They are so pretty I had to make something with them where I could see it everyday. These wallhangings will go in my daughters room over each of their beds. What I really loved about these papers is that one of my girls is a pink lover, the other likes green. Well, I was able to use the same line of papers to create two projects with different colors for each girl. I found the frames at the dollar store, or was it the 99 cent store. Anywhoo, the chipboard letters are from Bo-bunny, and I used Glimmer Mist to paint the stamped images of the leaves. All paper, stamps, and chipboard butterfly's and birds are by Magenta. The flowers are from various places and companies that I can't exactly remember right now. I stamped the mat that came in the frame with the magenta leafy branch stamp and then painted the leaves with Lime Twist Glimmer Mist. I cut a square of paper to fit behind each cut out window in the mat. I covered the butterfly and bird chipboard pieces with paper and sanded the edges to remove any extra paper. On some of the chipboard pieces I stamped over the chipboard shapes and patterned paper with the same leafy branch stamp and black ink. The letters were covered with patterned paper, and the edges were sanded and inked with black ink. I attached the letters to the frame using ribbon.

I love using my dollar store treasures to create something cool for home decor. Now it doesn't look so dollar store-ish! You've got to check out Magenta's site here . They have some fantastic stamps. Class at Ever After

I had a fantastic class yesterday at Ever After in Vista, CA. We made the Nature Glimmer Mist album using the Tattered Angels Glimmer Glass Nature album, glimmer chips, and of course Glimmer Mist. These girls were so awesome! And if you haven't been to this store you MUST go check it out. It was absolutely brimming with fabulous products. It is really a beautiful store, and the people who work there are so great and helpfull. Seriously, I LOVE this place! One of the ladies who took the class had these great pictures, and she chose different colors to match her pics, and she used the Basic Gray Porcelain line of papers to embellish it. It was just gorgeous(see pics above). So creative. I love it when I do a class and people really make the project their own. And a special holla out to Miss Cindy, who is always a blast in class, and has taken every one of my Glimmer Mist classes at Ever After. Thanks Cindy!

My Song Bird

My daughter Jordan had her very first choir performance tonight. She was great, if I do say so myself. It was a very good performance. She is really coming out of her shell this year. She wasn't even nervous. She said because she couldn't see anyone in the audience. The group sang a very ecclectic mix of songs, but they were all great. She is the tall blonde girl in the back row, far left. I am so proud of this kid!

Here comes the Sun!

It has been so hot the past few days! I guess our two weeks of spring is over. I was wishing for the cold to be gone, but I am not quite ready for the intense desert heat of summer yet. I am one of those scrappers who is only able to feel inspired to scrap certain pictures during the time they were taken, for example: Christmas pictures must be scrapped during Christmas time, Halloween pictures in the fall, etc... so that said, I made a summer layout yesterday. The new bingo boards and calling cards from Tattered Angels got me thinking about these pictures I took at the Aquarium back in 2003. I have been gathering supplies for years for these pictures waiting for just the right thing to make them pop. The bingo cards and inspiring summer colors of glimmer mist have turned out to be just the thing. There are two other themes for these cards too, family and outdoors. There are so many things you can do with them (love that). I am hoping for a busy week of creating, so let's hope my mojo holds up, and this darn flu will leave me. Have a great week everyone!

Sad News

Our beloved Scrappy store here in Victorville will be closing it's doors May 17th. I have worked at this store for over three years as the Assistant Manager, Class Coordinator and Design Team member. We have made many, many friends here, in fact everyone I know here in Victorville I met through the store. We have had a lot of great times together and I am so very sad the store is closing. Our last crop was last Friday night. We had a full house, and for some reason, these girls were really into ribbon that night. I must have cut 700 yards of ribbon! Whew, my arm hurt the next day. Since our owner Vesta announced the store closing this group of girls: Jackie Bullock, Nancy Baron, Penny Turnquist and Patty Clark have been cropping and mourning at the store almost every day. I will so miss seeing these girls and all of the other awesome customers every day. Thanks for the memories Scrapbook Boulevard.

Last year we had the pleasure of meeting Mick from Kaiser Craft. He came all the way from Australia to do a FANTASTIC class for our local scrapbook store Scrapbook Blvd. Well, our Jackie was quite taken with Mr. Mick. At CHA this winter we tried to get hold of Mick to hold up a sign for Jackie, but were informed he had left. Left? No, not possible Lisa and I said. "You must get him back here," Lisa and I said. Nope, he's gone back to the hotel. Oh, no! What will we do? For the next two months I missed him at every store I taught at by a day, AAARRRGGHH. Finally, Jennifer Priest to the rescue. She has a friend at Kaiser Craft that got hold of Mick, and these are the pictures. Thanks Mick, your a good sport.

Yep, it's a real pumpkin. David brought this monster pumpkin home from the Upland Market on Halloween night. It weighs over 100 pounds. A pumpkin this large does create the obvious issue of what to do with it after Thanksgiving. I was unwilling to cut it up and cook it to make pies. Seriously, how many pies would a pumpkin this size make? Dont know, didn't want to know. We have dressed it up for every holiday since then. It is time for it to go. The kids tried to disguise it with Easter grass (the bunny ears wouldn't fit). It's too heavy to heft into the trash. We've had it so long it's almost a part of the family, almost. I think I am going to dig a place up in the back yard, chop it up and bury it. With any luck we will have pumpkins growing in the fall. I'm not really a gardening fan, so I don't know if this will work or not. Worse case scenario, the ground will get a nice fertilizing. Any suggestions?

Hope everyone had a happy Easter. I was sick, so mine was not so great, but the girls had a great time. We spent the day at Davids Grandma's house. I got a great picture of the four generations of Davids family. David, his mom, his grandma and our girls. One of the kids favorite things is decorating easter eggs. As you can see from the picture, they share their love of bling with their mom.

Prima and Tattered Angels Team Up

I am so excited about this month! Tattered Angels and Prima have teamed up to create some fantastic designs using both companies products. I am a huge fan of Prima, so this was like a dream! My powers of photography are apparently as sad as my powers with the computer so my pics are not the best, but you get the idea. My scanner is having issues right now, but I will post better photos later. I will also post more pics of the other pages of the book later this week. I have yet to figure out how to put captions under my photos so I can give you step by step directions with the picture, so I'll just give you a few tips: The picture of my daughter Hannah with the dandelion was created on two pieces of acrylic: one 8x8 and one 12x12. To get the glimmer mist swirls and vine on the acrylic, I lightly misted the area where I wanted the image. I let it dry completely, then added another layer of glimmer mist. Then, when it was completely dry I layed my glimmer screen over the misted area and dabbed off the glimmer mist around the screen with a slightly damp paper towel. Voila, you are left with the screened image! Acrylic can be tricky, the secret is to LIGHTLY mist onto it and completely let it dry. The colors I used for the acrylic piece are Turqoise, English Ivy, Pink Bubble Gum, and Olive Vine. The flowers started out completely white! Glimmer Mist also works beatifully with the Prima raw lace, which starts out sort of gray, but it takes the Glimmer Mist so well. I love stuff like this that can be customized to whatever color I need. The die cut lacy felt pieces also take the Glimmer Mist Beautifully. For the little book I used the printed cardboard from Prima. It comes 12x12 and I cut it up into 6x6 inch pieces and made a book. The fabulous thing about this is you can make a book with it, and you don't have to fool around with covering the cardboard, it's already done. Love that. Happy First Day of Spring!

Well it's finally the first day of spring today. Yay. I am so tired of the cold, but as many of you know, here in California we have a couple weeks of spring and then HOT is here. On this first day of spring I had the best intentions of finding a beautiful springy background for my blog, but my computer savvy is not so great and neither is my patience for all things computer, so this is what I have for today. When I have more time, I am going to figure out how to create my own. So here are a couple of pics to help you get in the "Spring" mood. It seems like just yesterday my tree in the backyard was bare, but this a.m. there are leaves! This makes me happy. I have also created yet another box for Glimmer Mist. This one I created for my friend Nancy. She chose these great colors: Forest Green and Moonlight Glimmer Mist. I will be at Scrapbook Blvd tomorrow for the Gypsy Days, so channel your inner Gypsy and come on down! Top O' the mornin to ya! Well it's St. Patricks day so we had our annual green pancake breakfast today. The girls made glimmer pins for themselves and put Glimmer Mist in their hair. I didn't get a pic of the hair cause by this time we were running late, not a very lucky start to the day. I might even get really into it today and make some St. Pat's day projects. Let me just say, I enjoyed working with both of these products so much, it was hard to choose which booklet from Crafty Secrets to start with, so since it is spring I started with the Birds and Botanicals Image and Journal notes. I will be posting more projects combining Tattered Angels with Crafty Secrets in the next couple of weeks because once I started I couldn't stop. The possibilities are endless. I love,love,love the way the glimmer mist took to the unfinished wood on the birdhouse, and on the corrugated cardboard on the wallhanging. I used Copper, Patina, Olive Vine, Coffee Shop, and Creme de Chocolate on the bird house, and I used Patina, Olive Vine, Coffee Shop, Tuscan Sun, and Brick on the wallhanging. I also used Glimmer Glass Nature on the wallhanging, and Creme de Chocolate Glimmer Chips on the bird house. This was so much fun, and now I have a couple new decorations for my living room! Class at Ever After

Saturday February 28 was my Reflections of Love Class at Ever After Scrapbooks in Vista, CA. It was a packed house, and we had a fabulously glimmery good time! These ladies were on it. What a great group of people. Everyone finished, and on time! Jennifer Priest taught her Princess Crown album class for Scrapbook Royalty in the morning, and then I taught my class in the afternoon. Elena of Scrapbook Royalty came by during Jennifers Class and did some Fairy Fly by's, and I gave away some bottles of Glimmer Mist(see pics above), then at the end of the day, Jennifer gave away the big basket of goodies! I made somethin'!

I actually made a 12x12 layout! I have been so consumed with mini books that I haven't made a layout in weeks. I used the new Websters Pages paper and journaling cards, flowers, say it in crystals, center kisses from Prima, and of course glimmer mist in Old Lace, Sage, Hydrangea, and Vintage Pink. I sprayed the flowers with old lace, and used a paint brush to add color to the centers. I also used vintage pink on cream cardstock for my photo mat. One of my favorite pastimes is to pull out some patterned paper and match glimmer mist colors to it. I know, I know it sounds like I have too much time on my hands, but all work and no play makes Cheryl very unpleasant to be around! Dont forget, big weekend at Ever After Scrapbooks in Vista. I've been a bad blogger, and have fallen behind! Hopefully this post, and the next few after this one will get me up to date. Ok, coming soon: Saturday, Feb 28 I will be at Ever After Scrapbooks in Vista, for the Reflections of Love class. This is going to be a fun filled day. Jennifer Priest is teaching her gorgeous crown book in the a.m. before my class. If you sign up for both, you could win a great prize! (Oh, yes, there will be Glimmer Mist). Hope to see you there! I'm still adding classes for March and April, so there will be more to come later. Also, we're getting ready for Gypsy Caravan at Scrapbook Blvd March 21. This is going to be a super fantastic event with lots of Gypsy treasures for you. Be sure to sign up early so you don't miss it! I'm going to do a couple of Glimmer Mist demo nights in March. The first will be Wednesday March 11th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Scrapbook Blvd. I'll show you how to use Glimmer Mist, screens, and stamps all from Tattered Angels. This will be a fun play with it night. I will be doing a demo of Tattered Angels products at Collective Journey's Shamrock crop on March 13 from 6 to 9 p.m. Since I got up at 5:30 this a.m. my brain has gone back to sleep without my body, so if I think of anything else later I will post again.

Class at A to Z Scrapbooking

Saturday Feb 21st I taught the Frosty Memories Glimmer Mist class at A to Z. We had so much fun glimmering, salting, embossing! And the weather was perfect for this book, cool and cloudy! I forgot my camera so sadly I have no pictures from yesterday, but I will be back at A to Z May 9th to teach the Nature Glimmer Mist album. This store has so much good stuff in it, I browsed for quite a while after class, and still didn't get to see everything. Corey, Vivian and Steve - the owners of the store are so much fun! If you haven't been to this store you must go. I got some of the new Best Creations paper there yesterday, and I am hopefully going to use it today! Maybe I will have a layout to share with you later today with it. This store has a ton of events planned for the coming year. Just a few coming up soon: February 28th - A to Z anniversary event, March 27 through 30 - Scrapbook Cruise(I hear these are the most fun ever)! True Love Class

Expo in Costa Mesa

On Friday Feb 13th I headed out to the Scrapbook Expo in Costa Mesa. I worked in the Scrapbook Boulevard booth on Friday and Saturday, and the Tattered Angels booth on Sunday. It was great getting to see so many friends. I love these things! There wasn't alot of time for visiting because it was very busy, but I got to see quite a few people who have attended my classes, scrappy friends, and lots and lots of good scrappy stuff! Every spare moment I had, I was at the Melissa Frances booth, and Scrapyard 329. Liz Hicks did three fabulous classes for Tattered Angels, wow was she a busy girl this weekend! It was really fun, but I am REALLY tired out.

We lost our sweet old girl Chinook on Feb 11th. We have had her for 12 years. We think she was about 16. We didn't get her "new". She was a stray that started following Jordan around. Of course Jordan begged and pleaded to keep her, so we did against David's wishes actually. It's funny, she really became David's dog! She was a daddy's girl. She loved all of us, but David was her favorite. We will miss you pooh bear.

Class at Collective Journey

What a busy weekend it was! Sunday I taught the Reflections of Love Glimmer Mist class at Collective Journey in Redlands. These girls were awesome! And everyone who works there is so helpful and pleasant. This store is GORGEOUS! I took my new apprentice Morgan(my DD) with me and she said she wants to come help me everytime I teach at this store (it could have something to do with the little candy shop in the store). She was a huge help inking all the parts and pieces while we glimmered the day away. This place is definitely eye candy, not to mention all the great stuff there!
